Chalk in Baton Rouge — our upset call didn't materialize. LSU swept 3-0: 8-0 over Akron, 8-0 over Virginia Tech, 7-2 closer over VT in the championship. Heavener answered every Carrico start, including a complete-game title-game outing. Jordan Lynch was held to 2 singles all weekend. Torina's program-best win-percentage Tigers head to Tuscaloosa.

Heavener's 8-0 win over VT in Game 2. LSU put up 8 unanswered after the 1st; the ACC freshman of the year wore down by the 4th. The Hokies never recovered.

The Baton Rouge Regional winner advances to face the winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional (#16 vs #1) in the Super Regional round May 21-24, hosted at the higher national seed (Alabama). Super Regionals are best-of-three; the winner advances to the Women’s College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, May 28 - June 5.
