UCF Stuns Tallahassee — Knocks Off The 9-Seed

UPSET in Tallahassee. UCF lost the opener to Stetson 8-3, then ripped off four straight: 10-1 over Stetson, 2-1 loss to FSU in the championship, and a 4-2 closer over FSU in the if-necessary. Vega outpitched Francik twice on Sunday. The defending ACC Tournament champs were sent home in their own ballpark.

X-Factor

The if-necessary game. UCF lost Game 6 by a run, then beat FSU 4-2 in the winner-take-all on a Humphreys 2-run shot in the 5th. Cindy Ball-Malone's team won four elimination-style games in 48 hours.

The Tallahassee Regional winner advances to face the winner of the Los Angeles Regional (#9 vs #8) in the Super Regional round May 21-24, hosted at the higher national seed (UCLA). Super Regionals are best-of-three; the winner advances to the Women’s College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, May 28 - June 5.
